- Apply for membership to the class Google Group
- Set up a LinkedIn account. LinkedIn is the social networking service for professionals. After you’ve got your profile setup, invite me to be your friend. You should use my Harvard email address, Nicco_Mele [at] hks.harvard.edu. After you’ve invited me, then invite your friends.
- Read The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, an article from Wired Magazine. You should also read the Long Tail Wikipedia page.
- Read Part 1 of “The Groundswell” by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff. This is available as an electronic reserve reading here.
- Read “Essential Blogging” (Doctorow et al) – Chapter 1
- Read “How the Web Was Won” by Keenan Mayo and Peter Newcomb in the July 2008 issue of Vanity Fair.
- Use http://instantdomainsearch.com to start investigating domain names
- Be prepared with a credit card in order to purchase your own website domain – approximately $15.00.
